Spray nozzles can be categorized by their atomization method into impact water mist nozzles and centrifugal water mist nozzles. Impact water mist nozzles spray a straight stream of water from the nozzle onto a splash plate, where mechanical force breaks the water into tiny droplets to form a mist.
Centrifugal water mist nozzles utilize multiple high-speed rotating water streams and direct water streams that collide and break up as they pass through a small-diameter nozzle. These highly unstable fine water streams break down into droplets without a splash plate, which are then ejected from the nozzle to form a spray. Centrifugal water mist nozzles can be further divided into single-stage centrifugal and two-stage centrifugal types.
